Subject: Are you a shopaholic or know of someone who is?
Greetings, We're looking for a complusive shopper to be profiled on a CBC Television special on personal finance. This isn't about your occassional binge in retail therapy. Do you or someone you know feel compelled to keep spending despite overflowing closets and mounting debt?If so, please contact me as soon as possible and share your story. Your privacy will be respected at all times - tell as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. And really, we won't delve into WHY you do it (that's psychology); we just hope to document that this is happening, with sensitivity and respect, of course. Best, Susan Oh CBC Television, Marketplace 416.205.6722 or reply here. |

My name is Lavinia L. Dunkin. I am definitely a shopaholic. I get a real high on shopping for anything. I have everything a woman could possibly want but still I shop, shop, shop. I am always upgrading my already new stuff simply because it is a different color or does a little more than the old one does (the item is not really old). My daughter tells me she would love to have something and I am so compelled to buy whatever for her, or I upgrade what I have and give her the one I have, remember there isn't anything wrong with what I already have. I have charged my credit cards to maximum, have been in debt continuously. It is like a vicious cycle. I find myself being very sneaky with my husband. I buy things and sneak them in the house. I realize I have a very big problem and I want desperately to stop this behaviour. I would love to get as much help as I could possibly get.
Thank You Lavinia L. Dunkin ![]() |
